According to a new report, Hugh Jackman’s iconic character Wolverine may not be included in Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men reboot.
The news comes from industry insider Daniel Richtman, who claims that early treatments for the film “do not include Wolverine, at all.” Richtman suggests that the reason for this is because Hugh Jackman is “sticking around for now” and will likely play the character “post [Avengers] Secret Wars.”
While this may disappoint fans who were hoping to see Jackman reprise his role in the MCU, it’s not entirely surprising given that he recently appeared as Wolverine in the successful film Deadpool & Wolverine. It’s possible that Marvel Studios wants to give the character a fresh start in the MCU with a new actor.
However, if Richtman’s report is accurate, it means that the MCU’s X-Men team will be missing one of its most iconic members. The team is rumored to be similar to the recent X-Men ’97 season, which includes characters like Cyclops, Beast, Jubilee, Jean Grey, Rogue, Magneto, Storm, Morph, and Professor X.
It remains to be seen if Marvel Studios will change its plans for the X-Men reboot. In the meantime, fans can look forward to seeing Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars film.
