Marvel Studios’ upcoming Phase 5 film, Captain America: Brave New World, has been making headlines for its extensive reshoots and rewrites. One of the film’s stars, Tim Blake Nelson, has now confirmed the rumors, revealing that he filmed his scenes twice.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Nelson, who reprises his role as The Leader, discussed the reshoots: “Well, we’re done. I’ve shot it. I’ve actually shot it twice because I did it originally a year ago, and then we came back and redid a lot of it at the beginning of it this summer.”
While reshoots are common in the MCU, the scale of Captain America 4‘s seems particularly significant, lasting for several months. This has led to speculation about the film’s initial quality and the reasons behind the extensive changes.
Despite the reshoots, Nelson remains optimistic about the film, praising Marvel Studios for bringing him back and the opportunity to work with a talented cast. He said, “Being brought back into the MCU by Kevin and Nate [Moore] and Kyana [F. Davidson] to be a villain alongside Giancarlo [Esposito] against Anthony Mackie has been a great honor. It’s been a really interesting adventure.”
Captain America: Brave New World is scheduled to hit theaters on February 14, 2025. As fans eagerly await more details about the film’s plot and characters, the reshoots raise questions about how they will impact the final product.
